The Battle Of The Titans

Zeus grew up to a strong, powerful young god. One day he met the Nymph Metis and told or about what happened to his brothers and sisters. Touched of what he told her she gave him a liquid a kind of emetic that he should mix in the food of his father, Kronus. Zeus gave the liquid to Rhea and these mixed it in the food of Kronus and quite soon he spit all the children he ate before out. They formed an alliance with Zeus and a long and strong battle against the titans started. Zeus freed the hundred arms and the Cyclopes from the Tartaros which supported from there on of course the gods.

The basis of the Titans was on the mountain Orthres and Zeus and his alliance had their basis on the mount Olympus. The Cyclopes gave thunder and lightning to Zeus, Poseidon they gave the trident and Hades they gave a had which made him invisible.

More than 10 years they were fighting it is said, but in the Mythology in generally time have not to be seen so serious and exactly. In the end the Olympian defeat Kronus and the Titans. However not all the Titans were fighting with Kronus, Oceanus and Prometheus for example, all the others were locked in the Tartaros and closely guarded by the hundred arms.

It is said, that Zeus and Kronus become reconciled, if you think about a war between gods, nobody will die anyway. Kronos got transferred to the island of the saints, you can imagine this island like an old peoples home for gods. Here he became mayor for all time.

Atlas, the son of the Titan Iapetros who fought together with Kronus, instead got punished really hart. Zeus send him to the border between Chaos and night and he had to carry the whole earth and the sky. Also it is said about Atlas, that once upon a time he was the King of an enchant island in the middle of the Ocean, Atlantis.

The children of Atlas and Pleione are the seven daughters the Pleiaden. Taygete, Elektra, Alkyone, Asterope, Kelaino, Maia and Merope form the known constellation of the Pleiaden.
