Christianity began in Spain in the last century of the Roman Empire where it became the official religion. After going through difficult times with the Arab conquest of the Iberian Peninsula, which was Muslim for about 8 centuries, Christianity became the official religion and the basis of Spanish culture to this day.
Most Christian scholars consider that there is no myth in the Bible, but those mythical elements are found in both the Old and New Testaments. But figures and expressions from the mythical world can be found in the Bible and also a lot of stories have developed over the years and transformed into myths. In Spain, like in all of the southern countries of Europe, Christianity is the base of most of the culture. It has shaped the way of life in many different ways, for example, the holidays, either Christmas or Easter. Also, the beliefs and myths that have been passed down from generation to generation, and although today many people, especially young people, do not consider themselves to be believers, they are still practiced, believed, or at least highly respected.
