“Daidalos” means imaginative and he was citizen of Athens. He was not just the most famous inventor, but also a sculptor and a painter. Daedalus had a nephew called Perdix, who was also his student and was learning really fast. In fact, he invented different things, from the potter’s wheel to the pair of compasses.

Daedalus became jealous of him and he was afraid to loose his reputation as the best. Because of this he lure Perdix into an ambush and kicked him down the cliffs. However, Perdix was protected by the goddess patron Athena and just before the impact she transformed him into a partridge. But although the boy survived, Daedalus was accused by all the citizens and had to leave the city. After a long travel he arrived to Crete with his son Icarus and got himself at Minos’ disposal.
